Bronwyn Taylor

Charge Nurse, Radiology, Auckland City Hospital, Auckland, New Zealand

Bron has worked as a theatre nurse in the Adult and Emergency ORs at Auckland City Hospital for over 20 years. Initially trained to work in vascular and transplant, she was the Charge Nurse Floor Coordinator for 11 years. As such she organised the day to day running of the OR department (13 ORs including acute rooms) in conjunction with the other Charge Nurses and coordinators. She was responsible for organising the acute workload for each day, liaising with the surgeons and teams regarding availability and the acuity of their patients. During this time she was the New Zealand representative on the organising committee of the Australasian Definitive Perioperative Nurses Trauma Course, and has coordinated and taught on the New Zealand course annually since its introduction in 2004.

She was employed as the Interventional Radiology Coordinator in September 2016, though she is currently seconded as the Charge Nurse in Radiology. Before coming to work in Radiology she completed a 16 month secondment coordinating the set-up and operationalisation of the hybrid OR. During this time she worked closely with the teams from vascular, cardiac, cardiology and interventional radiology who all have scheduled lists in the room.

Bron has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences at the University of Auckland, focused on leading and managing change.
