Daniel Waigl is the Executive Director of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE). He started his career at the European Congress of Radiology, serving in different positions which included Head of Marketing and Communications, before he left in 2004 to join CIRSE. Daniel has a certification for Marketing and Sales from the Vienna University of Economics Executive Academy.
Founded in 1985, CIRSE is a non-profit, educational and scientific association aiming to improve patient care through the support of teaching, science, research and clinical practice in the field of interventional radiology. Since 2005, when Daniel was appointed and established the new CIRSE Head Office in Vienna, Austria, the Society has seen a significant growth in its reach, activities and size. Today CIRSE has over 7,000 individual academic members and over 35 National Group Member societies. It organises educational activities and courses through the Annual CIRSE Congress, the European Conference of Interventional Oncology (ESIR), the European School of Interventional Radiology (ECIO) and the CIRSE online education portal, ESIRonline. The Society also coordinates research in the field of interventional oncology and certification of IRs through the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR).
CIRSE strives to further develop activities in professional areas of interventional radiology with the ultimate goal of enhancing patient care.
