Dr Doug Campbell is a specialist anaesthetist at Auckland City Hospital. His clinical interests are vascular and neuroanaesthesia and research interests are epidemiology of long-term surgical outcomes, risk prediction and large clinical effectiveness trials. He is a co-investigator on the Balanced trial, a n=6500 randomised controlled trial of depth of anaesthesia and long term outcomes following surgery that recently completed recruitment. This trial required a priori targeting of blood pressure during anaesthesia to avoid confounding. He is PI on the MASTERSTROKE trial, a feasibility trial starting recruitment soon looking at haemodynamic management during general anaesthesia or conscious sedation during clot retrieval for large vessel stroke.
