Dr. Chung graduated Seoul National University College of Medicine and trained at Seoul National University Hospital as a resident and clinical fellow. He is an interventional radiologist and educator, specifically focused on chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma. He developed intensive training programs for Asian doctors and has shared academic knowledge and technical skills in the field of interventional radiology since 2002.
Dr. Chung is an active researcher, serving as the primary or co-investigator on multiple domestic or international studies including drug-eluting embolics. His primary research interest is to perform clinical and preclinical study to improve intraarterial treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma. He received multiple national research grants to investigate new intraarterial options for hepatocellular carcinoma using experimental liver tumor models and develop interventional devices and angiographic equipment.
Dr. Chung has published more than 280 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and over 25 book chapters. He currently serves as an associate editor of Radiology and as an editorial board member of Korean Journal of Radiology. He also serves as a manuscript reviewer for several scientific journals. He received multiple Distinguished Reviewer Awards from Radiology and Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He is the vice president of Korean Society of Interventional Radiology.
