Justin Roake

Professor Justin Roake is professor of surgery at University of Otago Christchurch School of Medicine and a vascular and transplant surgeon at Christchurch Hospital. He is chairman of the Vascular Society of New Zealand and a member of HQSC Safe Surgery NZ Advisory Group.

A University of Otago medical graduate he trained in surgery in New Zealand and undertook post-fellowship training and research in Oxford completing a DPhil in the field of transplantation immunology in 1992.

Professor Roake’s current research interests include diagnosis and management of abdominal aortic aneurysms with focus on aneurysm detection through screening, patient selection and outcomes, and the development and validation of clinical decision support tools and clinical prioritization systems for elective surgery.
