Richard R. Saxon, MD, FSIR is in private practice with the San Diego Imaging Medical Group, Inc (SDI) as well as being Director of Research at the San Diego Cardiac and Vascular Institute (SDCVI). With his partners at SDI, Dr Saxon provides Interventional Services at multiple institutions in North San Diego County, USA. Dr Saxon did his undergraduate training at UC Berkeley, received his MD from UCLA, and went to UCSF for his Radiology Residency. He completed his Interventional Fellowship at the Dotter Institute at OHSU in 1992. Dr Saxon stayed at the Dotter Institute as an Assistant Professor until 1997, when he moved to San Diego and began his private practice, also serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UCSD until 2010. His clinical practice and research has included the development and use of stent-grafts for arterial applications and TIPS, bioactive stents and drug coated balloons for arterial disease, as well as the use mechanical thrombectomy devices in the treatment acute limb ischemia and stroke.
