Dr William Clark is the Director of Southern Sydney Angiography. His practice is in the St George Private Hospital in Sydney. A medical graduate of Sydney University, Dr Clark trained in radiology at St George Hospital in Sydney and then undertook fellowships in musculoskeletal radiology (University of Iowa, USA) and vascular intervention (The Canberra Hospital, Australia).
Since 1997, Dr Clark has devoted his professional life to Interventional radiology techniques using high grade fluoroscopy. He was an Australian pioneer in subintimal angioplasty of leg arteries, remote closure of arterial punctures using balloons, and percutaneous vertebroplasty.
Dr Clark established the first clinical vertebroplasty programme in Australia in 1999 and has performed nearly 3,000 vertebroplasties. He was the first author of the VAPOUR trial which is the only blinded, randomized trial to prove the efficacy of vertebroplasty in correctly selected patients.
He is a Past President of The Interventional Radiology Society of Australia (IRSA) and is an examiner for the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) examination.
